SHELLARROW RIFLE & PISTOL HUNTING CLUB CAMP IN THE 80’S
This Columbia County, New York hunting camp is where my early hunting days got started back in 1966.
My very first deer was taken there that year and I can still replay the memorable scene in my mind today.
Notice the tree that is into the left side of the roof overhang. A few years earlier the river that flows through the property
overspilled its banks during a 3 day rain deluge and picked the cabin up and moved it about 20 feet. Luckily the tree
stopped it from going even further from its original foundation. We found the 2, 100lb. propane tanks that were on the
side of the cabin several hundred yards away in a farm field. There were 3 of us, myself included, in the cabin that morning.
Fortunately I was a light sleeper concerned with the weather and awoke everybody at 5:30 AM. We got the hell out of there
just in the nick of time!
