An important tactic is to bring several calls with you, including box, slate type, mouth, etc. We find that sometimes a gobbler will answer one call and not another and the call they answer may not be the one another gobbler will respond to.

Most times it is a good tactic not to call too frequently. If you call a few times to let the gobbler know you’re their and then keep fairly quiet with just a few calls now and then his curiosity may take over and make him try to find this hen that won’t come in that you are portraying.
